Hardside Waterbed Sizes
It used to be that waterbeds were only available in the hardside variety. Sizes include the California King (72×84), California Queen (60×84), and the Super Single (48×84). As you can see sheets that traditionally fit a mattress and boxsping just will not fit. Many people are afraid to even look at waterbeds, because they believe that they will never find a bed that will fit their individual requirements. However, they could not be more mistaken. Due to the advancements of technology, and the outcry for more customer friendly sizes, you can now purchase a waterbed that allows you to use the sheets you already have. This is ideal if you have a bedroom that will not fit the older out dated designs of a hardside waterbed. You can situate a soft side just like a conventional mattress and boxspring using an existing headboard and footboard and using even that designer bedding that makes up your decor.
Softside Waterbed Sizes
Lets take a look at the sizes available for softside waterbeds. The first is the Cal. King (76x 84) usually this size is a special order and is extra long. The Eastern King (76x 80) the best size for space and comfort. It is the most spacious and houses an adult couple comfortably. Keep in mind that in width you will be afforded the luxury of space. Literally a couple will acquire the same amount of space in width as 2 twin size beds pushed together side by side. Eastern Queen (60 x 80) is the most popular for today’s couple due to concerns of limited space in the bedroom.
Unfortunately this can also mean limited space for the couple with only 30 inches of useable sleeping surface for each person. Remember that most kids sleep on a 38” wide twin. The Full (54 x 75) once the staple size in the master bedroom today is more often than not reserved for the kids or the spare bedroom. Lastly the Twin size mattress at (38 x 75) is a great idea for the kids or those individuals with limited on space in the bedroom.
The only thing really left to cover is what to do for the persons who wake up in the morning only to find their feet hanging off the end of the bed. This is a need that can be filled by either of the previously mentioned California King or sometimes called Western length beds. With the additional 4” inches of length (84 inches long), these mattresses add additional comfort for those individuals who are slightly longer by offering some of us that little bit of extra love leg room that just might make the difference in getting a good nights sleep.
