Our Heavy Duty Low Profile Steel Bed Frame offers a practical solution.

A bed that’s too high can make everyday entry and exit awkward. Instead of replacing a perfectly good mattress or foundation, consider changing the frame underneath.
Our low-profile steel bed frame positions the bottom of its steel side rails approximately 3½” to 4½” above the floor.
Six threaded support feet provide a limited adjustment range that allows you to fine-tune the frame’s position and align it with compatible headboard mounting holes.
Important: The adjustable feet are primarily intended for proper positioning and headboard alignment, not for converting the frame into a conventional adjustable-height bed.
The actual height of your sleeping surface will depend on the combined thickness of your mattress, foundation, and frame.
Heavy Duty American-Made Steel Construction
Lowering your mattress set shouldn’t mean sacrificing the strength and stability underneath it.
Our low-profile frame incorporates the same heavy-duty steel construction features found in our traditional heavy-duty bed frame.
Deluxe 1½” Steel Side Rails
Substantial 1½” steel side rails provide a strong foundation along both sides of your mattress and box spring or foundation.
Heavy-Duty 2″ Center Support Beam – The Backbone of the Bed Frame
Just as your spine supports and stabilizes your body, our substantial 2″ steel center support beam acts as the backbone of the entire bed frame. Running from head to toe, it reinforces the middle of the mattress set, helping distribute weight and provide dependable, long-lasting support where it’s needed most.
This heavy-duty center support also accommodates split Queen and split King box springs and foundations, providing essential support beneath both halves where they meet.
Two Side-to-Side Crossbars
Two steel crossbars run from left to right, helping tie the frame together and maintain its structural integrity.
Six Adjustable Threaded Support Feet
- Unlike conventional steel frames equipped with rolling casters or EZ-Slide glides, this low-profile model features six threaded adjustable support feet.
- These shorter legs help keep the frame closer to the floor while providing adjustment for positioning and headboard alignment.
- Together, the six supporting feet help distribute the combined weight of the mattress, foundation, and sleepers.
Oversized 5/16″ Solid Steel Rivets
Here’s a construction detail many customers would never think to look for.
The swing arms that open and position the frame are secured with oversized 5/16″ solid steel rivets, rather than the smaller 1/4″ hollow rivets commonly found on competing adjustable steel frames.
Sometimes the smallest details tell you the most about how something was built.
Adjustable Low Profile Headboard Mounting Brackets
Already have a headboard you love? There’s no reason to replace it simply because you want a lower mattress set. Our low-profile headboard mounting brackets are designed to attach to compatible standard bolt-on headboards.
Each bracket includes five sets of mounting holes providing approximately 4″ of vertical adjustment.
This versatility helps you position the frame lower while accommodating different headboard mounting configurations. The threaded support feet provide additional fine-tuning to help align the frame with the selected mounting position.
Important Headboard Compatibility Information:
- Compatible with appropriately configured bolt-on wood, metal, and upholstered headboards.
- Five sets of mounting holes provide approximately 4″ of vertical positioning adjustment.
- Threaded support feet help fine-tune frame height and alignment.
- The frame may also be used freestanding without a headboard.
- Designed for headboard-only attachment. Footboard attachment is not supported.
One Heavy Duty Steel Bed Frame – Three Sizes
Why buy another bed frame every time you change mattress sizes? This versatile frame adjusts to accommodate three standard mattress set sizes:
- Full
- Queen
- King
Predetermined sizing positions make it easier to set the proper frame width.
Whether you’re furnishing a guest bedroom, upgrading to a Queen mattress, or supporting a larger King mattress set, you get the same heavy-duty construction.
Designed For Today’s Mattress And Foundation Sets
This low-profile steel frame is designed for use with a mattress and box spring or appropriate foundation/box spring.
It is an excellent choice for supporting traditional innerspring, memory foam, latex, and hybrid mattress sets when paired with the proper foundation.
Please Note: This is not a platform bed and is not designed to support a mattress directly without an appropriate box spring or foundation.
Heavy Duty Support for Adult Couples
Today’s premium mattresses can be considerably heavier than older mattress designs.
Add the combined weight of two adult sleepers, and the importance of a well-constructed steel frame becomes even greater.
That’s why this frame includes:
- Deluxe 1½” steel side rails
- A substantial 2″ head-to-toe center support beam
- Two side-to-side crossbars
- Six adjustable threaded support feet
- Oversized 5/16″ solid steel rivets
These components work together to provide dependable everyday support for the mattress, foundation, and sleepers.

The STL Beds Commitment
We’ve spent decades helping customers find the right mattress supports, foundations, and steel bed frames. One thing we’ve learned is that the right bed height can be just as important as the mattress itself.
If your mattress is comfortable but your bed sits too high, you shouldn’t automatically have to replace your entire sleep system. Our Heavy Duty Low Profile Steel Bed Frame offers a practical way to bring your existing mattress set closer to the floor while retaining the strong steel support underneath.
And we don’t believe lower-profile construction should mean cutting corners.
Look underneath and you’ll find the proof: 1½” steel side rails, a 2″ center support beam, two crossbars, six adjustable threaded feet, and oversized 5/16″ solid steel rivets.
