- All New Century Softsides useTwo-stage Foam Edge to make up the edge perimeter. This provides a nearly ideal transition from bed surface back to the floor. You can’t do that on the old wood frame waterbeds. The top stage is softer to mimic the feel of the water while the 2nd stage gives the softer foam the necessary support to last. This is not a tub style foam rail design that can be more expensive to replace.
