I would suggest that you run your replies to questions through a spell/grammar checker as you have many spelling/grammar errors which could turn some customers off.

Thanks Pam,
I don’t like leaving mistakes up there, but I then have to figure out the writers’ intent, sentence structure, punctuation, etc. It’s my Florida Chad problem if you know what I mean?
I have very mixed feeling and believe it is not my place to determine what the writer was was really trying to say, for me that crosses the line and becomes a form of censorship. You should see some of the stuff I receive. Spam; hate responses, even things that are totally off topic. Lastly if I new that writing would become such a big part of my life I would not of made C’s in English and would have made more of an effort in school and applied myself.
I do try to run all of my responses through spell checker. I may forget from time to time & I promise to work on that, however I do not mess with the customers’ comments and responses unless it is something malicious, slanderous, or offensive. At this time I do not offer a spell checker to my readers, but will consider it, for now you could copy paste from a Word Doc. before posting to any forum or open response platform.
Thank you for your suggestion
Doug

Customer Comments: If you want to sell this mattress then it should not matter where I live or my phone #, I have done this before and gotten tons of emails from other sales companies. I am abut to purchase this bed if you can give me insight into how it ranks with other brands since I am not familiar with Symbol
Comment by Gladys — July 14, 2009 @ 8:37 pm
Of course we would love to sell you a Symbol mattress. They build a great line of quality mattresses at very competitive prices. We ask for your city, state, and zip to determine if you are in an area that is protected for by your local Symbol retailer who may have exclusive sales rights in a particular region.
How Symbol compares to other specific models and brands you have looked at is something that is easier, quicker, and would include the more specific details shoppers demand or a visit to the showroom if you live locally. Email is slower and less affective than by phone or a showroom visit. With that said a comparison conversation usually is not necessary because STLBeds offers some of the most detailed information in writing on our products compared to other websites making it easier for you to compare without the need for a sales associate.
We ask for city, state, and zip because the Internet is a big place and covers the world and shipping is or can be a large part of your mattress and boxspring purchase depending on location. An honest retailer would acknowledge that up front instead of burring shipping cost it into the retail cost and telling the consumer it’s “free” or adding it at the end of the deal.
Unfortunately it is not possible for me to tell you how Symbol compares to the other mattress brands in this email. The reason, there is well over 500 mfg of mattresses in the USA and you gave me no indication as to what brands or specific models you are interested in. If you were to include that information we would be glad to show you in what ways Symbol Mattress is a superior product for a better price…
We do not ask for your specific address, nor do we “require your phone number in order to preserve your privacy.
Thanks for your input.

I am frustrated by dealers like yourselves who spam (CL) Craigs List. There are a great deal of CL readers that are not willing to buy garage sale items, other peoples junk, etc. They rely on Craig’s List to find New Items cheaper than it can be purchased in the stores. Social Media is supposed to help the little guy fight the big conglomerates. I realize you are not taking it away, but you are making it harder on CL readers who would like to visit the site offering such a deal. Take it away and you have hindered the ease of using Craig’s List.
Comment by Jackie — August 8, 2009 @ 7:34 am
I hate to hear that you feel that way.
We also think Craig’s List is a great social media venue. We just disagree on how it should be used. All Craig’s List users should take a moment to read, learn, and take notice of the many great features that Craig’s List has to offer.
Shoppers of CL do not have to be computer aficionados to use CL nor do we believe dealers have hindered the shoppers’ bargain hunting one bit. As a result CL has actually made it easier for anyone and everyone to find anything and everything they want whether it be new or used with out having to sort through hundreds and thousands of items.
If I may point out something you may not of considered, STL Beds is also a little guy and is a very small family owned store. We are desperately trying to compete with the big chains, box stores, and conglomerates. We work very hard to sell the new items you say the people are looking for at cheaper prices than you can get in the stores. Because of CL you can do just that.
Great comment.
You brought up some great points so I attempted to address some of them in this blog Dealers Cluttering Up Craigslist.

I looked through your site and would liketo suggest that you list prices of your mattresses on your website. Doing so would be very convenient for your customers and decrease the amount of mailings your store does as well as emails and telephone calls.
Most people do their research for the product they are looking for online and narrow down where they want to actually buy from, if you listed your prices online people coming intoyour store would be coming in topurchase not just ask questions.
Thank You
Shari
