I am looking for a use for old box springs. My daughter suggested we turn it upside down and use it for raised beds in the garden. I think this is brilliant, but does anyone know if the wood used in box springs is chemically treated like the mattresses are for fireproofing? (It's either a garden project OR it will become a new bookshelf in the bedroom. I see on google that there are plans to recycle box springs into bookshelves. That could be a cottage industry for someone or some sheltered workshop group.)
