Thanx Michael for your comment and great why mess with it if it still works question.

We are probably going to disagree but beds built 20 years ago were built with about a 10 year useful comfort and support life. Beyond that foams and upholstery wear, steel coils fatigue, and the sanitary aspect of a bed is… not so good after 20 years. Especially if the sheets, & mattress pad or protector aren’t cleaned regularly. Mattresses should also be vacuumed once a month, most people don't do it, forget, or were never told to do

Most people keep their mattress too long. Many times in this business people will e-mail me to say they slept in a hotel and loved the mattress. Being in the manufactoring business I appreciate their coments. Yes we make terrific hotel mattresses but many times it's just where the mattress at home is worn out!!!
They need to remember, your whole day depends on how you slept last night.

The question of how long will a mattress and boxspring last is one that comes up often on the sales floor. The idea behind this blog is to give people some mattress insight.

Most of the time people know they really need a new bed; they just need to be reassured that yes something is wrong with their old mattress.

Example,
If your mattress has a crater in it the size of Mt. St. Helens it might be time to replace your mattress.
Thanks for the comment

It is nice to see some criteria concerning mattresses. I just want to know whether or not my bed is any good.

I think way too many salesmen have hidden motives. My wife and I appreciate your company for taking the time to post such interesting material concerning your industry. The reading has been very helpful.
